Our Dental Assisting Training Program introduces the student to the world of Dental Assisting in a fourteen (14) week accelerated training program and clinical internship that has been approved by the Connecticut Commissioner of Higher Education. Students will study the basic knowledge and skills necessary in order to begin an entry level position as a Dental Assistant. The course will be taught at an actual dental facility, Manchester Family Dental, which is one of the top dental practices in the area. The facility will allow the student to experience the latest technologies and treatments that dentists are employing. Through instruction and role playing, the student will perform the daily duties required of the position. These include, but are not limited to:
Digital X-rays*
Air Abrasion Decay Removal
CEREC One Visit CAD/CAM Crown Technology
Laser Dentistry
Invisalign Clear Braces
Orthodontics
Digital Photography
Computerized Scheduling and Treatment Planning
Implant Restoration
Each class shall consist of a morning
class room session of lecture and video presentations. The remainder
of the day will be devoted to hands on training and demonstrations
of the everyday workings of a dental office, and the job demands of
a Dental Assistant. Working with the Instructor and fellow students,
a real life simulation of the actual job is created. Learning to
work with the doctor and how to treat patients is a part of each day
of training. A thirty-six (36) hour clinical internship at Manchester
Family Dental will follow the instructional sessions. Here they will
learn what it means to be a team member as a Dental Assistant in a
busy dental environment.
